Community Rules

As-Salamu Alaykum!

As Muslim women who share a common bond and connection with one another, it is essential to build and maintain a community that encourages positivity and respect towards each other.

This is why Bilislam’s community has created a set of community rules to ensure that everyone’s voices are heard and respected.

As a platform dedicated to helping Muslim women grow in their learning journey, we want to ensure that our community remains safe and respectful at all times.

Please take a few minutes to review our Community Rules before engaging with Bilislam’s community.

What to do:

1) Respect others:

We encourage open discussions and debates as part of your Islamic learning, but please be sure to treat everyone with respect regardless of their race, culture, or background. Remember: No judgment or discrimination is allowed here on Bilislam!

2) Be supportive:

Nobody is perfect. All of us have faced difficult challenges throughout our lives and have made mistakes, and we need support from each other at all times. So let’s show some love for one another

3) Be polite:

Any form of hate speech or discrimination is not tolerated within Bilislam’s community. We believe that our differences should be celebrated and respected, rather than used as a means to divide or hurt one another. This includes but is not limited to, racism, sexism, and other forms of discrimination. By creating a space where everyone is welcomed and respected, we can foster an environment that is safe and supportive for all.

4) Keep it clean:

We understand that discussions can become heated at times, but please keep the language and tone in your comments respectful. We reserve the right to remove any content that is considered offensive or inappropriate. This means avoiding disrespectful language, swearing, or name-calling. Communicating with a civil tone allows us to have productive discussions and avoid offending or hurting others.

5) Respect copyright:

We respect the copyright of others and expect our community members to do the same. Any content that violates copyright law will be removed.

6) Keep your posts Islamic:

Post only about what relates to your Islamic life journey. Don’t distract other Muslimahs from their journeys by talking about or encouraging them to look up other social media websites, music, movies, TV shows, etc. We want Bilislam to become a social platform that doesn’t waste time. We want Bilislam to become the go-to place for Muslim women to spend their time growing in their Islamic knowledge.

7) Respect Bilislam’s staff and moderators:

We have a dedicated team of leaders and moderators who actively monitor our community. All moderation decisions are final and should be respected. In addition, any criticism or complaints about Bilislam’s team should be sent privately and not posted publicly. Use the contact form on the Help Page or contact Huda (the Admin).

What not to do:

1) No misinformation:

We also value the importance of sharing information from credible sources. It is essential to fact-check the information we share and avoid spreading misinformation or rumors. As Muslim women, we should strive to educate ourselves and our community by referring to reliable sources.

2) No gossip:

Gossiping or spreading rumors about anyone, including members of our community, is strictly prohibited in Bilislam. It’s also forbidden in Islam. We want to create a positive and inviting atmosphere here in our community.

3) No spamming:

We ask that you refrain from posting any content or links that are irrelevant to the discussion or inappropriate for our community. Any content that five Bilislam members mark as spam will be automatically deleted.

4) No personal attacks:

We are an open and welcoming community. Constructive criticism is encouraged, but please refrain from attacking or insulting other members of our community. Don’t escalate a discussion when it becomes heated. Pause for a moment, take a deep breath, and try to find a mutually beneficial solution.

5) No flirtation:

Bilislam is not a dating site or a place to find romantic partners. Any messages or comments that are deemed inappropriate, offensive, or flirtatious will be deleted. Members who repeat this behavior and refuse to comply with this rule may be banned from the platform without warning.

6) No personal information:

We want everyone to feel comfortable engaging in our community, free from any pressures or stresses. To ensure that Bilislam remains a safe and supportive space, we ask that you refrain from asking or sharing personal information (phone numbers, emails, etc) or any material that may violate someone’s privacy. Bilislam is not responsible for any misuse of shared or personal information.

7) No hijacking of threads:

Please keep conversations on topic, and avoid derailing any discussions or taking them off-topic. Hijacking a thread can cause confusion and derail an important conversation.

Media Upload Rules

You can upload media and organize it into albums and folders, according to the file type, your courses and lessons, or whatever organization system you choose.

As our platform grows and our services develop, in-sha-Allah, we will be able to provide more and more resources for our sisters to benefit from.

We strive to make Bilislam a central hub of knowledge, interactions, and fun so that each sister can gain a better understanding of the beautiful religion that we all share.

Our References

In Islam, you’ll find many “branches” or “denominations”. Each branch is different based on specific interpretations of the Quran, Sunnah, Muslim scholars, and different historical narratives.

Muslim women have the freedom to practice Islam in their own way, as long as it aligns with the Quran and Sunnah, and does not harm others.

That’s why we welcome sisters from all “branches” of Islam, all cultural backgrounds, and ethnicities.

We believe in diversity and inclusivity, as it strengthens our community and allows us to learn from one another.

But in order to establish Bilislam on a solid foundation and to promote harmony among our sisters, we have made the decision to select a single branch as our primary source of knowledge:

The Sunni branch (also known as Ahl As-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah).

This branch has a solid reputation when it comes to historical significance, plenty of resources, and strong evidence.

While we continue to extend a warm welcome to our sisters who follow other branches, we kindly request that they honor our choices, utilize our resources, and collaborate with us toward the common purpose of sisterhood and unity.

Our Resource Level Check

When introducing new knowledge, it is crucial to adhere to our resource level check. The following list outlines our priority levels for knowledge resources:

  1. The Quran (as it is the word of Allah, which must be from a Mushaf published and approved by official Muslim authorities).
  2. Hadiths (authentic and reliable sayings of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, from trusted books by Sunni Muslims, like Sahih Al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, etc).
  3. Sahabah traditions (companions of the Prophet, peace be upon him, also from trusted books by Sunni Muslims).
  4. Ijmaa’ (consensus among Muslim scholars).
  5. Qiyas (reasoning by analogy based on evidence from the Quran and Sunnah) and highly reliable individual opinions (from scholars).
  6. Islamic history and context, which includes a variety of literature, such as biographies, Islamic books, commentaries on the Quran and Sunnah, etc.
  7. Modern research and scientific findings that align with Islamic principles and values.
  8. Cultural practices that align with Islamic teachings.
  9. Personal opinions and interpretations which should always be checked against the above sources before being shared on our platform with disclaimers.

Our goal is to ensure that our platform provides accurate, authentic, and reliable information to our sisters, promoting a better understanding and application of Islam in their daily lives.

How to deal with conflict or abuse on Bilislam

We get it, navigating online can be a real rollercoaster. Maybe you’ve had a heated debate on Bilislam or stumbled upon some seriously eye-roll-worthy posts. It happens, and we’ve been there too.

Smaller conflicts

Consider the context

When you stumble upon an infuriating post, caption, or comment on Bilislam, take a moment to zoom out and see the bigger picture.

Let’s play detective and figure out the context behind it! 🕵️‍♀️

Before jumping to conclusions, make sure to give the post a thorough stalk! Review all the info related to the post or dig into the sharer’s full profile to understand the whole story.

Ponder your words before commenting

Before you hit that “Post” button in a heated dispute, pause and think: “Is this really worth it?”

Trust me, engaging in this conflict won’t make you the next internet sensation or miraculously bring you a lifetime supply of cookies.

So, take a breath and consider if your time and energy could be better spent elsewhere. #ThinkBeforeYouComment

Responding to harassment by dishing out harassment yourself is like fueling the fire. Not a good move, my sister! It only encourages the other person to keep up their aggressive behavior. Let’s break this cycle and rise above it!

Block and ignore

If you’re getting bombarded with unwelcome messages, just hit the block button!

Simply, cut off communication. No need to waste energy on that nonsense! They’ll be out of your virtual world in no time! No more following you or searching for your profile.

Once they realize you’re giving them the silent treatment, they might lose interest.

Hopefully, at Bilislam, you won’t need to do that, because we aspire to create an environment where you won’t have to face such challenges. Our community of Muslim sisters triumphs over harassment and proactively discourages any form of bullying.

Report a violation

Familiarize yourself with Bilislam’s Community Rules and Terms of Use.

Once you’ve checked out our rules and spot an account that’s not playing by the rules, it’s time for some report abuse action!

Hit us up with our reporting system – the speediest route to getting those pesky abusive posts or profiles under control.

Bilislam deletes accounts and posts if they don’t play by our Rules and Terms. If someone doesn’t follow them, Bilislam has no qualms about hitting that delete button on their accounts and posts.

Our Reporting System

You can report inappropriate posts, comments, or people who aren’t following our Community Rules or Terms of Service right when you see them by using our built-in reporting features.

You only need to click on the three dots on the top right corner of each post, then Report Post.

Don’t worry, your report is anonymous. The account you’re reporting won’t have a clue who spilled the beans. 😉

We’ve got your back, so just let us know if something looks fishy or doesn’t feel right and we’ll take care of it, in-sha-Allah!

We’ll all be thankful for your cooperation in keeping Bilislam safe and enjoyable for all of our sisters.

When a dispute or abuse goes too far

Sometimes things get serious, like “real-life situation, not a virtual one” serious.

Check out these handy suggestions for places to go and get the help you need.

If you or someone you know is in serious trouble, contact local authorities immediately for expert assistance. Stay safe!

Get help from your trusted circle

We might delete all hurtful comments, but their impact can stay with you for a long time. When dealing with negative or hurtful interactions, don’t hesitate to lean on your family and friends for support and advice.

Your sisters at Bilislam are here to support you in every way that we can, so don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

A heart-to-heart convo with your closest circle can help you navigate the situation and let those feelings out, in-sha-Allah.

Trust me, it’s like hitting the emotional reset button!

Seek assistance from local law enforcement or legal representation

We’ll investigate any reports we get, in-sha-Allah!

But, if things start getting serious and an argument goes from petty bickering to a legit threat – like a real world, offline threat – you better ring up those local authorities.

They’re in the right place to evaluate the threat and take necessary action or offer assistance when needed.

If you think your online disagreement is getting into “legal territory,” it’s best to consult with a lawyer.

Bilislam isn’t in the business of dishing out legal advice or giving out personal info about our users – unless we’re legally obliged to.

If law enforcement comes knocking at our door, we’re ready to cooperate as much as we can to help you. We’ll work hand in hand, providing all the necessary info for their investigation of your issue, in-sha-Allah.

Finally,

Bilislam recognizes that everyone has a unique perspective and opinion.

We encourage our members to express themselves freely while also considering the feelings of others.

To create a supportive environment, we listen attentively to different perspectives and opinions while keeping an open mind.

We understand that disagreements can arise, but we believe that they should be handled with mutual respect, empathy, and understanding.

We want to create a space where everyone can feel safe and respected, so let’s do our part in ensuring that we all abide by these community rules.

Let’s make Bilislam a place where everyone can share their knowledge and experiences while learning from one another in a positive, constructive way.

Thank you for being a part of Bilislam’s family!
